Inviting applications starting August 8, 2024
The space economy is taking off, and the Space-Edge Accelerator is gearing up to propel innovators and businesses into new realms of opportunity. Powered by industry and academic leaders, Space-Edge is designed to open up new markets enabled by a global space economy that is projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2040. The accelerator is for those currently outside the space sector who want to develop effective space strategies and gain a competitive edge in the market.
In the fall of 2024, Arizona State University, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, Space Foundation, and Vanderbilt University are joining forces to offer the inaugural Space-Edge program, tailored to the biomedical sector.
“We are thrilled to offer the Space-Edge program to Arizona-based businesses and innovators this fall. This program activates Arizona’s space strategy of integrating space into the local economy by enabling local businesses to take advantage of commercial opportunities in the growing space economy.” said Jessica Rousset, director of the ASU Interplanetary Institute.
The inaugural Space-Edge program for the biomedical industry is launching in collaboration with members of the Orbital Reef University Advisory Council and the Space Foundation.
Space access for biomedical innovators
The first Space-Edge accelerator will focus on biomedical innovation to expand the space health community and fuel solutions that will grow both Earth-based and space economies. From tissue culture to drug formulation and physiological sensors, the 12-week hybrid program will cover key areas of biomedical innovation that can either benefit from the space environment or advance human space flight.
